To fill the glass jar, invert the grinder and twist the glass jar to the right to loosen. Once filled, twist the glass jar to the left to refasten. It cuts sharper and stronger than a stainless steel grinder, and there is no center spindle which makes it easy to fit larger ingredients. Only the glass is dishwasher safe. The grinding mechanism is not dishwasher safe, and should only be wiped clean with a damp towel to clean.
