Gourmet Tote - Use and Care
We are pleased that you're considering the Gourmet Tote for your food transporting needs. To maximize your use, please see the following instructions.
By utilizing the top shelf divider, your Gourmet Tote is designed to carry standard casserole dishes, pie pans, wine and utensils. You can remove the shelving unit entirely and carry oversized items. The shelving unit attaches to the sides and back of the tote with Velcro strips. Securely fasten bottom of tote to side panels (Velcro) and always fasten two snaps on front panel before closing the tote.
By collapsing the top shelf divider, your top shelf can now carry standard size casserole dishes or larger items.
Before closing the top cover, securely fasten bottom of tote to side panels (Velcro) and always fasten two snaps on front panel.
The utensil holder is removable. Simply reattach to Velcro strips on front panel. Wipe clean with a damp sponge or cloth and towel dry immediately. Do not submerge in water.
The Gourmet Tote is designed with two front and two side buckles to keep items secure when traveling.
Your Gourmet Tote is ready to transport your food when all four buckles are securely fastened.
Care and Cleaning
For interior and exterior: Wipe clean with a damp sponge or cloth only and towel dry-do not use soap products as they may leave a residue. DO NOT USE AN ABBRASIVE SPONGE OR ABBRASIVE CLEANING PRODUCTS as they will damage/scratch both the interior and exterior material. Never submerge your Gourmet Tote in water. Exterior can be conditioned with leather conditioner periodically.
Commonly Asked Questions
Will it keep the food cold or hot without cold or hot packs?
The Gourmet Tote will keep food "oven fresh" for one hour (the same for pizza delivery bags that don't have warmers in them). Food should be placed directly from the oven into the Gourmet Tote. Frozen items will still be approximately 50% frozen (semi-thawed) after 4 hours without a cold pack. A frozen piece of ground beef takes 8 hours to thaw in the Gourmet Tote without a cold pack! Hot and cold packs are not included.
Can you tote hot on one level and cold on the other?
You can tote hot and cold items on the separate levels. The hot item should be placed on the bottom shelf directly from the oven and the cold item placed on the top shelf. When toting both hot and cold items, if you desire an item to be "chilled" (bottle of wine for example), a cold pack should be placed next to the cold item on the top shelf.
Is it structurally sound without the shelf insert? For example, if someone were to tote a deep, heavy crock-pot?
One of the best features of the Gourmet Tote is the adjustable and fully removable shelving unit. By removing the shelving unit, you are able to carry a large salad bowl, a deep dish casserole, small crock-pot or even a turkey roasting pan. The Gourmet Tote is very structurally sound without the insert provided the two front snaps are secure, the Velcro strips on the bottom are adhered to the side walls and the four buckles are locked on the top and front of the tote.
